It covers the entire Brazilian territory and is also broadcast in satellite and cable channels around the world. On June 6, 2009, TV GLOBO aired a 5 minutes documentary about the Gems of the Earth project. The presenter, Serginho Groisman, is a famous late night showman.  JR's First Videoblog! http://www.gemsoftheearth.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=13 Ralph Heacock Junior, JR, a Drexel University graduate, is visiting with the Gems of the Earth pilot project. He arrived in Tombadouro, one of the communities of the pilot project, on September 1st, 2006, to participate in the II Annual Meeting of the Gems of the Earth Volunteers. JR is travelling around thr project and collecting his views on what is happening in the ground. Starting with this video, we are going to see a series of videoblogs of JR's experience in the Gems of the Earth project. All videoblogs are filmed and edited on location, using the communities' telecenters.

Phil Shapiro Interviews Marco Figueiredo http://www.gemsoftheearth.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=12 Mr. Phil Shapiro manages the Technology Center at the Takoma Park Public Library, Maryland. He is a long time supporter of CTCNET.ORG, one of the largest telecenter networks in the United States. Phil invited the founder of the Gems of the Earth Network, Marco Figueiredo, for a casual video interview at his facility in Takoma Park.  II Gems of the Earth Meeting of Volunteers http://www.gemsoftheearth.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=10 The volunteers of the Gems of the Earth pilot project met in Tombadouro to discuss the progress of the project. The people of Tombadouro gave a tremendous reception to the group. The experience was captured in a movie published in youtube.com.  Gems of the Earth Inauguration Meeting http://www.gemsoftheearth.org/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=7 Last April 9, 2005 occurred the inauguration meeting of the Gems of the Earth Network (GOTENET). This meeting marked the partnership between GOTENET and the Loyola Center of Excellence in Telecenter Integration (LCETI). The Computer Science Department at Loyola Colege was represented by Dr. Roger Eastman, Dr. Roberta Sabin and Dr. Benokraitis. You can see pictures of the event in the PHOTO GALLERY.
